Surreal

Ok, so it is a bad sign that it still feels completely surreal that we are married?

Madness

I guess the crazy thing is that I think about a year ago at this time and I truly and honestly thought I was going to have to hold a gun to his head to get him to finally propose. This is NOT to say that we hadn't talked about getting married, how excited we were to get married, start a family, move forward, etc etc etc... but he was not budging on his whole, "if I can't get you a ring, I'm not going to propose". I mean honestly, he could have given me a mystery decoder ring from a cereal box. I didn't care!!! I knew that eventually I would get a ring (and boy did I ever) but the whole, "I WANT TO MARRY YOU, YOU STUPID MAN" didn't seem to be getting through to him. *sigh* Men.

So here we are, where things are not ideal (he's been home for 36 hours and leaves again today for 9 days) but there are brief shining moments of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Brian is now officially off probation (YAY!!! ), has passed his check-ride with flying colors (DOUBLE YAY!!! ) and is on second year pay now which is MUCH better than first (I could faint with happiness). He isn't doing as much navy stuff, which means that he will be home more in the upcoming months... And right now, we are doing our domestic thang.

Last night, I came home from work and he had gone grocery shopping, tidied up the house, fed the dogs and get this... ultimate testament of his love for me... scooped the guts out of the pumpkin so I could carve it. Of course, his purpose in that was so we could carve it together, but oops... he hopped on one phone call and poof, it was done. I'm good.

So yes, things are really fabulous, we made dinner together, cleaned the kitchen together, cursed blockbuster together when our movie started skipping in the middle of it. DAMNIT. But it was awesome! Because we felt TOGETHER and MARRIED.

So yes, upwards and onwards. While I may not have a wedding to plan anymore, I am working on a gala that will take place in 2.5 weeks (yegads) and then after that, some interesting career moves might be afoot. We are getting a new boss-boss and who knows where the dice will fall when he starts a-rolling...

Life is good. And friday is halloween - be prepared for pictures. Of course I'm being a boring old fart and going to Stacy and Greg's house to give out candy (no wild and crazy parties for me any more, thank you... i'm a respectable married lady now). Of course, last year that involved us watching scary movies and drinking ourselves stupid. Oh yeah, and handing out candy :-)

I'm feeling a little tear forming. How sweet. Ashley you deserve it. By the way you look beautiful in your wedding photos. Hugs and kisses.
